"XPeng", "Nio" and "Li Auto" announce their January results: who delivered the most electric cars?

US-listed Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers XPeng, Nio and Li Auto have released their January customer deliveries. Of the manufacturers mentioned, XPeng achieved the highest number of deliveries, with Li Auto in second place and Nio in third position. These figures reflect developments among the main players on the market, so let's take a closer look at the statistics.

"XPeng", "Nio" and "Li Auto" announce their January results: who delivered the most electric cars?

"XPeng Mona M03" deliveries exceed 15,000 units

"XPeng" delivered 30,350 vehicles in January, down 17.3% compared to December, but up 268% compared to the same time a year ago.

The Guangzhou, China-based start-up reported that deliveries of the XPeng Mona M03 hatchback-convertible alone exceeded 15 000 units.

"Li Auto's" growth slows down

"Li Auto" reported that it delivered a total of 29,927 vehicles in January, down 4% compared to the same period last year and down 49% compared to December, when it delivered 58,513 vehicles.

"Nio" strengthens its position with "Onvo"

Shanghai-based Nio delivered 13,863 vehicles in January, including 7,951 Nio brand vehicles and 5,912 Onvo brand vehicles. This is a 55.5% drop compared to December deliveries, but a 38% increase compared to January 2024.

In May 2024, Nio launched its Onvo brand of lower-priced EVs, and its first car, the Onvo L60, only went on sale at the end of September.

It now seems clear that the Onvo brand is gaining momentum and finding its place in the market.

To sum up, in 2024, the Chinese EV market continued to grow and reached new records. More than 12 million EVs and plug-in hybrids were sold during the year, an increase of around 20% compared to 2023, while sales of petrol cars fell by 10%.

Last year, the Chinese domestic market was dominated by electric car manufacturer BYD, which alone sold 4.27 million vehicles.

Chinese exports of EVs also rose to 1.28 million units, an increase of 6.7% on the previous year. These results show that China is not only consolidating its position in the world's largest EV market, but also increasingly influencing the global automotive industry.
