China is building a giant fourth-generation nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to add to the country's fleet.

A significant change in naval power

China is steadily improving its navy, defense, and economic sectors. But the new aircraft carrier is a step to a higher level of naval power.

As  reported , the new aircraft carrier will be completely different from all the others in the Chinese fleet.

The country currently operates three aircraft carriers, the newest of which is Fujian. It is a Type 003 supercarrier equipped with three electromagnetic catapults for launching fighter jets.

Features of the new aircraft carrier

According to analysts, photos from the Dalian Shipbuilding Company, where this aircraft carrier is being built, show that China is taking its aircraft carrier capabilities to a new level. 

It is believed that the new fourth-generation aircraft carrier will likely be the Type 004 model, which has four catapults instead of the usual three. 

It would allow more fighter jets to be launched at once, and to achieve this goal, the aircraft carrier would have to be significantly larger than the Fujian. As a result, it would need a nuclear engine to provide sufficient propulsion.

Big steps

Recently, China has made great strides in strengthening its military technology. 

Last year, the country unveiled the world's largest amphibious assault ship, demonstrating its military might.

China recently announced that it is ready to provide global remote sensing services through its satellite constellations.

Meanwhile, photos surfaced last year revealing the country was testing a powerful new type of fighter jet.

With similar major breakthroughs in research and military technology, China is preparing to compete with countries like the United States and Russia. This is becoming an increasingly relevant topic as the world increasingly prepares for the possibility of war, although it is not known when.
