Mirror from the future: tasting your body and checking your health

"The Omnia smart mirror, developed by Withings, is just a concept, but it could potentially provide detailed information about a person's health status in real time by scanning your body.

Mirror from the future: tasting your body and checking your health

Collecting weight and metabolic data for now

Withings unveiled the Omnia smart mirror based on artificial intelligence at this year's CES.

The full-body smart mirror is equipped with sensors that can collect data on a person's weight and metabolism.

The company will look to integrate other smart devices into Omnia so that the mirror is able to provide an even more comprehensive assessment of health, from sleep and physical condition to everything else.

Communication via IoT assistant will be possible

"Withings already has the most advanced consumer-grade smart scales on the market.

With Omnia, the company is going even further by connecting more health data and displaying it all on a mirror screen.

In addition, the Omnia could be interacted with using an artificial intelligence voice assistant.

"Withings also has a vision that Omnia will become a portal to connect with doctors and experts who can analyse problem areas.

For now, however, Omnia is just a concept of how Withings could combine many of its existing health products into a single point of human interaction.

However, Withings hints that the AI assistant will be launched later this year as part of the Withings+ subscription service, which costs USD 10 per month.

Other Withings news

Also at CES, Withings announced the launch of a new blood pressure device, BPM Vision.

"The BPM Vision will have interchangeable cuffs for different hand sizes, Wi-Fi connectivity and a six-month battery life. It will include a display for displaying and recording information. Subject to FDA clearance, the device is expected to be sold for USD 129.95.

In addition, the Cardio Check-Up feature is already available today on the Withings app as part of Withings+. This feature is not linked to any specific hardware, but allows users to request certified cardiologists to check their ECG and other health data within 24 hours.

Annual Withings+ subscribers can do four Check-Ups every 12 months and monthly subscribers can do one every 90 days.
