January 11, 2025 16:28Mark Zuckerberg said on Joe Rogan's podcast that Apple's last significant innovation was the iPhone, introduced back in the day by Steve Jobs.
During the conversation, Rogan said that he is switching from iPhone to Android because he doesn't want to be dependent on one company. He also deemed the 30 percent commission that Apple charges as insane.
Zuckerberg agreed that Apple's rules “seem arbitrary” and create barriers for other manufacturers. He said the closed ecosystem limits competition, especially in products like AirPods, and deprives users of even better devices.
The billionaire called the iPhone “obviously one of the most important inventions probably of all time,” and said Apple has fallen far behind in terms of releasing innovative products, probably referring to the Vision Pro and Mera Quest helmets.
He also criticized Apple's policies towards its ecosystem, which is causing the same Meta to lose billions of dollars in ad revenue.
As part of the podcast, Zuckerberg expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the Biden administration, which censored social networks, requiring the deletion of even memes, and admitted that intelligence agencies read the messages of WhatsApp users.
