Majority of respondents believe that the price of bitcoin will cross the $200,000 mark in 2025 (international survey results)
Most cryptocurrency holders believe that the price of bitcoin (BTC) will reach or exceed USD 200 000 by 2025. This is the view of 58% of respondents to an international survey conducted by cryptocurrency exchange BITmarkets. Meanwhile, 18% of respondents disagreed with this prediction and almost a quarter (24%) admitted they were not sure. The international survey, which polled a total of 1,685 respondents, was conducted in 58 countries.
January 13, 2025 12:16Czech cryptocurrency holders are a bit more sceptical about bitcoin's price growth forecasts. Of the 252 Czechs who voted on the BITmarkets platform, 49% believe that the price of BTC will reach USD 200 000. 24% of respondents doubt the forecast, which is higher than the global average.
Slovak cryptocurrency holders, 163 of whom took part in the survey on the BITmarkets platform, were among the most sceptical, with only 46% expecting the bitcoin price to reach USD 200 000 this year, a higher proportion than the global average, i.e. 23% of respondents.
Hungarian cryptocurrency investors are slightly more optimistic: out of 196 respondents to the survey, 52% believe that the bitcoin price could rise to USD 200 000, while 23% doubt it.
"A wave of optimism has swept cryptocurrency investors in 2024. Bitcoin continues to break records, boosting investor confidence that it could double in value within a year. After all, bitcoin's rise in recent years - from around USD 43 000 - has been staggering," notes Peter Sumer, CEO of BITmarkets.
On the 2025 forecasts, he added:
"For well-established cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, we forecast stable, long-term growth. This is due to its limited supply, which acts as an anti-inflationary mechanism, and its role as a universal currency and investment and trading asset. However, we cannot rule out short- and medium-term price fluctuations, which remain a possibility in 2025.
As a reminder, as of 13 January, the cryptocurrency market is "undecided" which way to move. You can read more about this in our market overview.
