Get ready for the future: LG's giant in-car displays are here

Huge progress

LG Display has officially begun production of the industry’s first 40-inch Pillar to Pillar (P2P) high-end automotive displays, aiming to revolutionize the driving  experience  .

The P2P screen is an ultra-large automotive panel that completely covers the space in front of the driver and front passenger seats, providing a personalized infotainment experience.

This includes a digital dashboard, navigation, A/C controls, movies, music, games and more – all without any screen transitions.

This giant screen allows you to easily access information and control vehicle functions without any limitations.

This is a big improvement over previous screens, where navigation instructions would disappear or shrink when other functions, such as music or A/C, were used.

Will not interfere with concentration

If you think a giant screen can be distracting, LG has taken this risk into account and offered a solution.

Their new technology includes a switchable Privacy Mode (SPM) and a viewing angle control feature.

This important safety feature helps the driver stay focused on the road by covering the movies or games being watched by the front passengers – all while achieving and maintaining ultra-high definition quality.

In addition, LG has applied local dimming technology for the first time.

Its goal is to reduce heat generation and energy consumption, with the aim of improving the driving efficiency of future mobility options, including electric vehicles (EVs).

The first car to receive LG's 40-inch P2P display will be the Afeela. This is the first sedan developed by the Japanese joint venture Sony Honda Mobility.

LG Automotive Innovations

“Based on our industry-leading proprietary technology, excellent product competitiveness, and stable supply capabilities, we will continue to deliver innovative solutions that provide exceptional value to customers in the SDV era,” said Keuk-sang Kwon, head of LG Display’s automotive business group, commenting on the new technology.

Meanwhile, LG Display is far from the only LG company revolutionizing the automotive experience.

Electronic components manufacturer LG Innotek recently introduced a new automotive lighting technology that allows drivers to display messages on their vehicles.
