BTC surpasses $100,000 before Donald Trump's inauguration: what's next?

Bitcoin (BTC) has not yet broken the USD 100 000 level and even managed to almost reach USD 102 000 today, although it briefly dipped below USD 98 000 yesterday. However, the trading activity has not changed and the daily turnover has remained essentially the same and is still slightly lower than a week ago.

BTC surpasses $100,000 before Donald Trump's inauguration: what's next?

Media reports about Donald Trump's alleged plan to make cryptocurrency a national priority for the US and correspondingly rising expectations for the creation of a BTC reserve have also contributed to the appreciation.

Investors are also said to be rushing to place their bets ahead of Monday's inauguration, when the US stock exchanges will be closed, and BTC is once again rescuing traders who want to trade, but who do not want to be dependent on someone else's opening hours.

BTC price over the last 7 days:

So, as predicted, as the inauguration approaches, the volatility of the BTC price is increasing, with expectations that the price will soon break the record (around 108 000 USD) again. However, as previously announced, it usually takes 15-30 times for BTC to seriously break the "round" price, as was the case with USD 10 000.

There have now been fewer than ten such attempts to break USD 100 000, but, as always, past scenarios will not necessarily repeat themselves. But if they do, we will see less BTC stuck in the same price ranges for a while yet.

On the other hand, next week the markets may be moved by the expected decision of the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates.

For its part, the BTC ETF gained strongly for the second day in a row, largely recouping the losses it had suffered in four days. Inflows on Wednesday and Thursday amounted to EUR 1.38 billion. At the same time, analysts at Kaiko remind that the BTC ETF has also affected trading activity, with BTC trading being particularly active during US business hours after the launch of the fund.

In any case, there is now a wide range of BTC price forecasts for this year, ranging from USD 150 000 to USD 1 million, which reminds us that no one knows how the year will end, just as there is no guarantee that the USD 150 000 level, which is also the one that Donald Trump wants to reach, will be reached.
