2024 Sales Only Fall to 2022
Over the past eighteen years, the iPhone has become one of the most important products that helped build Apple’s empire.
It has not only become Apple’s main source of revenue. The iPhone has also played a significant role in building the broader Apple ecosystem and strengthening one of the most valuable and recognizable brands in the world.
According to a new report, there were about 1.38 billion active iPhone users worldwide in 2024. This is 3.6 percent more than in 2023, and accounts for more than 21 percent of all smartphone users in the world.
This huge user base spent an incredible amount of money on iPhones over the course of the year.
In fiscal year 2024, Apple earned $201.1 billion from iPhone sales. Total iPhone sales reached an impressive $2.03 trillion.
Last year, it was only surpassed by the record set in 2022, when iPhone sales reached $205.5 billion.
Exceeded the market value of Tesla, Meta and even NASA's spending
The iPhone's sales since its launch are almost double Tesla's total market value, which is around $1 trillion. The market value generated by the iPhone is also greater than the combined value of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Compared to the US e-commerce market, iPhone sales alone generated almost twice as much revenue as all US online shopping in a year.
Even more impressively, Apple made twice as much from iPhone sales as NASA has spent in its entire history.
If Apple had wanted to, it could build 13 International Space Stations (ISS), each costing $150 billion, and fund it all with iPhone sales alone.
This is a great example of how Apple’s influence extends beyond technology and has a huge impact on the global economy.
