Amazon Introduces Next-Generation Alexa+: A Smarter, Ever-Improving Version of AI

Powered by generative artificial intelligence

Amazon has announced that its new assistant, called Alexa+, is powered by generative AI and is designed to make customer service even better.

Alexa+ is said to be more conversational, smarter, more personalized, and easier to use than the old Alexa. Thanks to generative AI, it is constantly learning.

New experience

Alexa is a voice-activated virtual assistant that helps you perform various tasks. For example, controlling music players, setting reminders, and controlling smart home devices. Works with both Amazon and third-party devices.

The service is currently available on hundreds of millions of devices worldwide and is used to power a variety of features, such as   the voice-to-text feature  on the iPhone.

Amazon promised to release a new version of Alexa several months ago, but its release has been delayed until now.

Deeply understands information

“We combined advanced LLMs (large language models) with Alexa’s knowledge base to create a much smarter AI assistant that continually improves.” “It’s not just about knowing lots of things – it’s about deeply understanding information and providing accurate, relevant answers, and Alexa+ excels at that,” the company says.

Additionally, Alexa+ can perform tasks such as controlling smart homes with Philips Hue and Roborock products, booking and hosting meetings through OpenTable and Vagaro, browsing discographies, and playing music from providers such as Amazon Music, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Alexa+ is also more customizable, allowing for even more personalization.

Users can provide important information, such as family recipes, important dates, facts, or food preferences. Alexa+ will use this information to perform specific actions.

Available worldwide

Amazon's new AI assistant is now available to users worldwide. They can access it through a new mobile app in the Apple App Store and Google Play, and through a new browser at lexa.com.

Users can interact with Alexa+ across devices, from their phone to their car, and continue the conversation on their computer at any time, while maintaining the context of the conversation. This ensures that using the assistant becomes even more flexible.
